the story of
Malia McCarthy

Malia McCarthy is a dancer, actress, and singer located in NYC. Growing up in Casper Wyoming, Malia found a love for dance at an early age. She danced all throughout her childhood at local studios, competing and winning numerous awards. Upon graduation, life took her in a different direction for six years until dance found her again. At 22, Malia was offered a scholarship to attend Casper College’s Theatre and Dance Program, an NASD accredited school. During her time there, she was the Firebird in “The Firebird Ballet,” the lead in “The Yellow Wallpaper: A Dance Adaptation,” Vibrata in “A Funny Thing…Forum,” and dance captain in “Children of Eden.” She has received the Certificate of Merit from the Kennedy Center for her role in “Children of Eden,” as well as for dance captain.

Malia also danced with the Cleo Parker Robinson Ensemble in their famous piece, “Harvest.” Upon graduating from Casper College Malia made her way to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to pursue her Bachelors of Arts in Dance Performance. While there, she was a lead dancer in the production of “Pippin,” danced with Actors Theatre of Charlotte, and spent two summers at the Martha Graham School. In 2023, Malia arrived in NYC to chase her dreams of Broadway. To date, Malia has been training under many prestigious instructors at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center, performed in “The Table of Silence” at Lincoln Center under Buglisi Dance Theatre, and the Steps on Broadway Industry Showcase. While actively auditioning, Malia is relentless in pursuit of dancing in the Big Apple.
